Перед своим зверинцем, С баронами, с наследным принцем, Король Франциск сидел; С высокого балкона он глядел На поприще, сраженья ожидая; За королём, обворожая Цветущей прелестию взгляд, Придворных дам являлся пышный ряд. Король дал знак рукою — Со стуком растворилась дверь: И грозный зверь С огромной головою, Косматый лев Выходит; Кругом глаза угрюмо водит; И вот, всё оглядев, Наморщил лоб с осанкой горделивой, Пошевелил густою гривой, И потянулся, и зевнул, И лёг. Король опять рукой махнул — Затвор железной двери грянул, И смелый тигр из-за решётки прянул; Но видит льва, робеет и ревёт, Себя хвостом по рёбрам бьёт, И крадётся, косяся взглядом, И лижет морду языком, И, обошедши льва кругом, Рычит и с ним ложится рядом. И в третий раз король махнул рукой — Два барса дружною четой В один прыжок над тигром очутились; Но он удар им тяжкой лапой дал, А лев с рыканьем встал… Они смирились, Оскалив зубы, отошли, И зарычали, и легли. И гости ждут, чтоб битва началася… Вдруг женская с балкона сорвалася Перчатка… все глядят за ней… Она упала меж зверей. Тогда на рыцаря Делоржа с лицемерной И колкою улыбкою глядит Его красавица и говорит: «Когда меня, мой рыцарь верный, Ты любишь так, как говоришь, Ты мне перчатку возвратишь». Делорж, не отвечав ни слова, К зверям идёт, Перчатку смело он берёт И возвращается к собранью снова. У рыцарей и дам при дерзости такой От страха сердце помутилось; А витязь молодой, Как будто ничего с ним не случилось, Спокойно всходит на балкон; Рукоплесканьем встречен он; Его приветствуют красавицыны взгляды… Но, холодно приняв привет её очей, В лицо перчатку ей Он бросил и сказал: «Не требую награды». |
Before your menagerie
With the barons, with the crown prince,
King Francis sat;
From the high balcony he looked
In the field, waiting for the battle;
Behind the king, enchanting
Blooming beauty look
A magnificent row of court ladies appeared.
The king gave a sign with his hand -
The door opened with a bang:
And a formidable beast
With a huge head
Shaggy lion
It turns out;
He leads gloomily around his eyes;
And now, having looked around everything,
Wrinkled his forehead with a proud posture,
He moved his thick mane,
And he stretched and yawned
And lay down. The king waved his hand again -
The bolt of the iron door burst
And the brave tiger spun from behind the bars;
But he sees a lion, is shy and roars,
It hits itself with its tail on the ribs,
And sneaks up, squinting with a glance,
And licks his face with his tongue
And, going around the lion,
He growls and lies down next to him.
And for the third time the king waved his hand -
Two leopards as a friendly couple
In one leap over the tiger we found ourselves;
But he gave them a blow with a heavy paw,
And the lion got up with a roar ...
They resigned themselves
Bared their teeth, walked away
And they growled and lay down.
And the guests are waiting for the battle to begin ...
Suddenly, a woman fell from the balcony
The glove ... everyone is watching ...
She fell between the beasts.
Then on the knight DeLorgue with the hypocritical
And looks with a sharp smile
His beauty says:
“When me, my faithful knight,
You love the way you say
You will return the glove to me. "
Delorgue, without answering a word,
Goes to the beasts
He boldly takes the glove
And returns to the assembly again.
Knights and ladies have such a daring
The heart was clouded with fear;
And the young knight,
As if nothing had happened to him,
Calmly ascends to the balcony;
He was greeted with applause;
He is greeted by beautiful looks ...
But, coldly accepting the hello of her eyes,
Glove in her face
He dropped it and said, "I do not demand a reward."
